THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ON THIS WEBSITE -
Collaborative law is the most important development in legal thinking
during the last 50 years! This site includes a considerable volume
of information about collaborative law and how it operates in the
context of family law situations – divorce, property agreements,
modifications, etc. That material is the most important information
within this site – PLEASE READ IT.
The collaborative law movement was spawned through
the realization by experienced lawyers that the litigation system
does not operate well in many family law cases. Collaborative law
is based upon an agreement by the parties and their lawyers to stay
away from the courthouse while negotiating a settlement that serves
everyone fairly. Over the last several years, the skills of collaboratively
trained lawyers have enabled many persons to chart their own courses
through family disputes and emerge in much better shape than would
otherwise have been possible.
Please take the time to learn more about collaborative
law through the information on this site and that provided by the
organizations noted in the “links” section.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE -
Some lawyers use their websites as billboards
to shout –
- “Hire me because
- I’m the best lawyer in the universe
- I’m the rough and tough lawyer
- I’ll do the job for less money”
And other grandiose claims that may be larger
than reality.
Of course, the objective is to persuade you to
hire that particular lawyer rather than another one.
Obviously, this website is an advertisement for
Robert J. Matlock, P.C.. However, the content of this website has
been assembled with a different objective in mind – to provide
you with forthright and useful information about family law matters.
The material within this site is primarily informational
memos composed by Robert J. Matlock to help clients understand what
to expect in their family law cases.
When you review these materials, please keep in
mind that what you are reading is general information rather than
specific advice concerning your particular circumstances. For assistance
with your particular matter, please contact Mr. Matlock at one of
the offices via phone or e-mail.
